JUST FASHION
1. Apr. 2025
The fashion industry is a major polluter, contributing to global carbon emissions and waste. Overproduction, resource depletion, and lack of transparency in supply chains hinder environmental and social impacts. The EU-funded Just Fashion project aims to help businesses transition to lower-carbon, circular, and socially inclusive practices. It provides tools and a reference framework for businesses to map, pilot circular business models, and develop AI tools, preparing them for more sustainable production.
The EFA will play a key role in supporting the project across several important areas, including communication, dissemination, and policy. In addition to these responsibilities, EFA will also take on the crucial role of project coordinator for the upcoming sixth pilot case, which is set to be announced.
Over the next three years, the Just Fashion project will focus on:
The development of innovative circular business models.
The promotion of digitalization in the fashion industry.
Supporting sustainable practices along the entire fashion value chain.
By implementing these strategies, we aim to drive a fundamental shift towards a more sustainable and circular fashion industry in Europe.
Following Goals are:
1. To map the current state of fashion and sustainability in Europe
2. Evaluation of tools and circular business models
3. Development of measures to prepare SMEs for the European Green Deal regulations
Focus areas:
∙ Development of a new sustainability index and improvement of existing circular business models
∙ 6 pilot projects exploring circular economy aspects such as end-of-life, zero-waste prototyping, recycling
and traceability
∙ Updating transformation tools to support the transition to sustainable business models
∙ Creation of an AI-powered support tool to help SMEs prepare for new policy frameworks
